Safety glass is a specialized type of glass designed to minimize the risk of injury in the event of damage or breakage. Its primary purpose is to protect people and property—both during everyday use and in emergency situations.
Unlike ordinary glass, which shatters into sharp, dangerous fragments, safety glass is engineered either to remain in place or to break into small, blunt pieces that are far less hazardous.
Safety glass is commonly used in windows, doors, balustrades, and shower enclosures, providing a high level of safety in everyday applications.
Laminated glass consists of two or more panes bonded with an interlayer (e.g., PVB, EVA, or SentryGlas®). In the event of breakage, the fragments remain adhered to the interlayer, reducing the risk of injury and increasing resistance to forced entry. VSG safety glass can be custom-made, and even after breaking, it retains its structural integrity.
Tempered glass undergoes a specialized thermal treatment process, making it up to five times stronger than ordinary glass. When broken, it shatters into small, blunt pieces that are far less dangerous. At Vitroterm-Murów, we offer custom-made ESG safety glass, ensuring a perfect match for any project while maintaining the highest level of protection and functionality.
